Celebrity hype, er...height

I stumbled across a list of tall actresses. Some are quite surprising. Tilda Swinton is 5'11"!!! I never would have guessed.

I started wondering about height as I watched Battlestar Galactica this evening and noticed that Tricia Helfer (Number Six) towers over James Callis as Dr. Gaius Baltar. She's 5'10".

I'm 5'10", and I LOVE tall actresses! I think so many of the women on that list are beautiful. Also makes me realize how many Hollywood leading men are tiny.

I also love curly-haired actresses (when they don't have to wear their hair straight). You don't see so much of that, either.

Yay, tall ladies! :) I'm 5'9" and I'm sad to see that us 5'9" shorties aren't even on the list! A lot of the women on the list are definitely super-attractive.

I've seen a decent number of celebs around New York, and most of the men I've seen are pretty small. Bruce Willis was shorter than me. Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are downright microscopic. On the other hand, Victor Garber was about 6 feet or so, which seems "tall" for an actor. Oh, David Schwimmer was definitely over 6 feet. Maybe 6'2" or 6'3"?

I'm totally with you on curly hair. It is rare to see it, and I really like it. Unfortunately, I think it has something to do with standards of beauty that downplay ethnicity. And if not entirely that, it's certainly about homogenization and having a style that is more "controlled." Don't you know that too much variety is unattractive? You're supposed to be a natural blonde with straight hair, who weighs 102 lbs. and has blue eyes and huge breasts. ha ha. ;)
